ENTERPRISE VIRTUAL LICENSING

Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG)

Hourly usage flexibility for virtual TR7 deployments.

The PAYG license is designed for organizations that want to run TR7 virtually for short-term, variable, or trial use. You choose the bandwidth, software bundle, and vService limit upfront; at month-end, only the active running hours are billed.

There is no minimum commitment. You can start and stop the appliance, and update the bundle or capacity in the next period as your needs change. ActiveOps is included in the PAYG price.

Run it when you need it. Pay only for the hours it's active.

PAYG is the most flexible TR7 license model — a fit for PoC, dev/test, temporary campaigns, labs, and variable-usage scenarios.

VIRTUAL APPLIANCES ONLY

What Is the PAYG (Pay-As-You-Go) License?

PAYG (Pay-As-You-Go) is TR7's most flexible licensing model. No long-term commitment, no contract term, no forced subscription. You choose your configuration (bandwidth, bundle, vService limit) upfront and only pay for the hours you actively use.

Billing is metered hourly; the total active hours are invoiced at month-end. You can start, stop, or change capacity at any time — this is what sets PAYG apart from traditional license models.

The Active Operations Licence (ActiveOps) is included automatically throughout the PAYG period. No additional purchase is needed for platform updates, security feeds, or full configuration rights.

PAYG is for virtual deployments only. For hardware appliances, the Fixed-Term or Perpetual models are used.

INCLUDED WHILE PAYG IS ACTIVE

ActiveOps Included Automatically — During Active Hours

In the PAYG model, the Active Operations Licence (ActiveOps) is included automatically during active usage hours. When you stop PAYG, ActiveOps billing also pauses; when you restart it, ActiveOps automatically becomes active again.

Hourly Metering

Charged by the hour, billed at month-end. You only pay for the time you use.

Start/Stop Any Time

Activate instantly, stop instantly. No contract penalty, no term lock-in.

Platform Updates

ActiveOps is included throughout the PAYG period — major and minor versions, bug fixes.

Security Rule Sets + IP Intelligence

WAAP signature updates, OWASP category coverage, IP reputation feeds 4× per day.

Virtual Deployment Only

VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, Proxmox plus AWS and Azure cloud platforms. For hardware, use Fixed-Term/Perpetual.

Upgrade Path

On a transition from PAYG to Fixed-Term or Perpetual, the amount you have spent is applied as a credit.

Core Advantages of the PAYG License

No-commitment onboarding, hourly usage, and virtual deployment agility

Hourly Billing

Pay only for active hours. The bandwidth and bundle you selected upfront stay fixed — you control when to use it. Stop and start whenever you need.

Select Your Capacity Upfront

Select your bandwidth (e.g. 100 Mbps), software bundle (e.g. Secure), and vService limit (e.g. 5 VS) upfront. The hourly rate is set by your choice.

Start/Stop Flexibility

Turn it on when you need it, turn it off when you don't. Cancel any time with no commitment — no contract, no penalty. Maximum flexibility for every deployment scenario.

No Long-Term Commitment

Month-to-month flexibility, no lock-in. Adjust your capacity selection or cancel at any time without breaking a contract.

Organizations that get the most out of the PAYG license

Development and Test

Dev/test environments that need enterprise features with full flexibility. Pay only for the hours you actually use the appliance, cancel anytime.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does PAYG billing work?
PAYG uses hourly billing. You first select your capacity upfront: bandwidth (e.g. 100 Mbps), software bundle (e.g. Secure), and vService limit (e.g. 5 VS). Your hourly rate is set by that choice. Each month, you then pay only for the hours your appliance was actively running.
Is there a minimum commitment on the PAYG license?
No — the PAYG license has no minimum commitment. You pay month to month based on your active hours. You can change your capacity selection, pause usage, or cancel at any time, with no long-term obligation.
Can I change my bandwidth or bundle selection?
Yes — you can adjust your capacity selection (bandwidth, bundle, vService limit) as needed. Changes take effect in the next billing period. This gives you the flexibility to scale up for projects or scale down when not needed.
Is Active Operations (ActiveOps) included in PAYG pricing?
Yes — Active Operations (ActiveOps) is included in the PAYG license. That covers platform updates, security rule updates, IP intelligence feeds (4 times a day), bug fixes, and full configuration capabilities — all included in your hourly price.
Can I switch from PAYG to a fixed-term license?
Yes — if your usage becomes more continuous, you can switch from PAYG to a fixed-term license. If your appliance runs 24/7 or close to it, a fixed-term license usually delivers better value. Contact sales to discuss transition options.
