ENTERPRISE LICENSING

Perpetual License

Indefinite usage rights for a long-term TR7 investment.

The Perpetual License is designed for organizations that plan to run the TR7 platform on their own infrastructure for many years. The license is purchased once, and usage rights remain with the organization indefinitely.

The Active Operations Licence is included for the first year. This coverage provides platform updates, security rule updates, threat intelligence streams, and full configuration capabilities. If ActiveOps is not renewed after Year 1, existing traffic continues to flow; however, new updates and advanced configuration capabilities are paused.

Invest once. The TR7 usage right stays with the organization.

The Perpetual License delivers a predictable ownership model for long-term data center, government, finance, healthcare, and CapEx-driven enterprise deployments.

What Is the Perpetual License?

The Perpetual license model grants indefinite ownership of the software through a one-time purchase. There is no contract term, no auto-renewal, and the software does not shut down at the end of a subscription. The license remains with you.

A TR7 Perpetual license comes with the Active Operations Licence (ActiveOps) included for the first year. ActiveOps covers platform updates, security feeds, IP intelligence streams, and full configuration rights. After Year 1, ActiveOps renewal is optional — if you don't renew, the license stays with you and traffic keeps flowing.

This model delivers the lowest total cost of ownership for 5+ year deployments (TCO). It is a fit for organizations with CapEx-driven budgets, government agencies, capital-intensive sectors, and any organization planning long-term infrastructure investment.

How Perpetual Licensing Works

A simple one-time purchase with an optional Active Operations Licence

Perpetual + Optional ActiveOps Model

Purchase the perpetual license once — sized to your hardware appliance capacity for physical deployments or to your bandwidth requirements for virtual instances. Optionally renew the Active Operations Licence for software updates, security rules, IP intelligence feeds, and full configuration capabilities.

 • One-time perpetual license purchase
 • License never expires — lifetime ownership
 • Active Operations Licence (ActiveOps): included in Year 1, renewal optional
 • ActiveOps: updates, security rules, IP intelligence, full configuration
 • Existing services run without ActiveOps (no forced obsolescence)

Virtualization Platform Support

Virtual perpetual licenses are portable across all major hypervisors and clouds

VMware
Hyper-V
KVM
Proxmox
AWS
Azure

Your virtual perpetual license is portable across all supported platforms — no relicensing on hypervisor or cloud migrations.

Who It's Ideal For

Organizations that get the most out of perpetual licensing

Long-Term Deployments

Organizations planning 5+ year deployments — whether on physical appliances or virtual infrastructure — that want to minimize total cost of ownership with a one-time investment rather than ongoing fixed-term license fees.

CapEx-Driven Budgets

Organizations with capital-expenditure budgets that prefer to capitalize software as an asset and depreciate over time, instead of treating it as an operating expense — applicable to both hardware appliances and cloud workloads.

Regulated Industries

Government, healthcare, finance, and other regulated sectors that require long-term software ownership, stability, and independence from vendor service changes — both on-premise and in regulated cloud environments.

Hybrid and Multi-Cloud Deployments

Organizations running physical data centers and multi-cloud workloads side by side. Perpetual licenses cover dedicated hardware appliances and stay portable across cloud providers without relicensing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a perpetual license?
A perpetual license grants lifetime ownership of the TR7 software with a one-time purchase. You own the license indefinitely and can use it indefinitely with no recurring fees. The optional Active Operations Licence (ActiveOps) provides updates and full configuration capabilities.
What is the Active Operations Licence (ActiveOps)?
ActiveOps is the additional coverage that keeps a perpetual license operationally current and manageable. Platform updates, security rule updates, IP intelligence feeds, new vService creation, network configuration changes, and advanced policy changes all require ActiveOps. Licensed customers also retain access to my.tr7.com for license viewing and support ticket submission.
Is ActiveOps required for perpetual licensing?
ActiveOps is **included for the first year** of any new Perpetual license — it comes with your purchase. After Year 1, renewal is optional: if you don't renew, you keep the license and traffic keeps flowing — only platform updates and new configuration are paused. With Fixed-Term and PAYG licenses, ActiveOps is included automatically for the entire term.
What can I do without ActiveOps, and can I move my virtual license between clouds?
Without ActiveOps: traffic continues to flow at full capacity, you can start and stop existing vServices, and you can make rule and condition changes. You cannot create new vServices, change network configuration, or receive software updates. For virtual deployments, your perpetual license is fully portable — you can move between VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, Proxmox, AWS, Azure, or any supported hypervisor with no relicensing.
What happens if I don't renew ActiveOps?
Traffic continues to flow at full capacity and your existing vServices keep serving requests. However, creating new vServices, changing existing rules and policies, modifying network topology, applying platform updates, applying security rule updates, and consuming IP intelligence feeds all require active ActiveOps. Access to my.tr7.com for license viewing and support ticket submission continues.
How does a perpetual license compare to a fixed-term license?
A perpetual license offers lower total cost of ownership for long-term deployments (5+ years) with a one-time CapEx investment; ActiveOps is purchased separately. A fixed-term license offers lower upfront cost, ActiveOps included, and OpEx treatment. Choose based on your deployment timeline and budget preference.
